William currently serves as an elected councilperson.
He was first appointed in May 2019 by then Mayor Tim Sharp to fulfill a vacant seat. In November of 2019 he was elected in the general election to serve a 4 year term.
In his time on the council, he has been a part of the cities sewer relining project (completed in 2023) that was financed in part by a CBDG grant. Also part of the opening of the Dollar General store, and Riley Medical Center.
He brings with him a keen sense of fiscal responsibility while always working to improve the amenities and improvements that the citizens of Riley want to have.
In his spare time he enjoys a great many hobbies most notably being a 20+ year registered wrestling and soccer official for the Kansas State High School Activities Association
